What is A2 Gir Cow Desi Ghee?
What is A2 Gir Cow Desi Ghee?
A2 Gir Cow Desi Ghee is made from the milk of Gir cows, one of India's oldest and purest cattle breeds. Gir cows naturally produce milk with A2 beta-casein protein. This is different from the A1 protein found in milk from most hybrid or foreign breeds.
A2 milk is gentler on the stomach, easier to digest, and richer in nutrients. When you make ghee from this milk using the Bilona method, you get a product that is far superior to anything available in a supermarket.
How We Make Our Bilona Ghee
How We Make Our Bilona Ghee
Most ghee you find in stores is made from cream. Our ghee is made from curd. That single difference changes everything.
Here is how every batch of A2 Farm ghee is made:
1. Fresh A2 milk is collected from our own Gir cows every morning.
2. The milk is gently boiled, cooled down, and set into curd using a natural starter.
3. The curd is hand-churned using a traditional wooden Bilona, moving clockwise and anti-clockwise to separate fresh white butter (Makhan).
4. The Makhan is collected carefully from the buttermilk.
5. It is slow-cooked on a low flame until it turns a deep golden colour and fills the room with that rich, unmistakable desi ghee aroma.
6. The ghee is filtered clean and packed with care, ready to be delivered to your home.
This process takes time. It cannot be rushed. That is exactly why our ghee tastes different from what you get in a packet off a shelf.

Why A2 Gir Cow Ghee is Good for Your Health
- A spoonful in your dal or khichdi makes it easier to digest, especially for children and elderly family members.
- You can cook at high heat without worrying about the oil burning or turning harmful. Ghee has a high smoke point.
- One teaspoon a day keeps your gut lining healthy. The butyric acid in A2 ghee is what does this work.
- It does not go rancid quickly. Stored in a closed jar at room temperature, it stays good for up to 12 months.
- No artificial colour, no preservatives, no hidden ingredients. The only thing in the jar is pure ghee.
- Your food will smell and taste noticeably different. The aroma of real bilona ghee in a hot pan is unlike anything from a packet.
- Safe for babies above 6 months when used in small amounts in food or for massage.
- Works beautifully in Indian sweets. Halwa, laddoos, and kheer made with this ghee taste the way they used to.
- People who normally avoid ghee because it feels heavy often find A2 bilona ghee sits comfortably on the stomach.

FAQs
Is A2 Gir Cow Desi Ghee safe for people who are lactose sensitive?
Yes. Our ghee is made using the Bilona method, which starts from curd, not fresh milk. During the fermentation process, most of the lactose converts to lactic acid. The final ghee contains very little lactose, which means most people who are sensitive to dairy can have it without discomfort.
What is the difference between Bilona ghee and regular ghee?
Regular ghee is made from cream or malai separated from milk. Bilona ghee is made from curd that is hand-churned to extract fresh butter. The butter is then slow-cooked to make ghee. This traditional process retains more nutrients, gives a richer aroma, and produces the granular texture that is the sign of real desi ghee.
How do I know if the ghee is pure?
Pure A2 bilona ghee will be granular (daanedar) when it cools down. It turns solid in the refrigerator and a clean pale or golden colour depending on the season. When you heat it, you will smell a rich, nutty aroma. Our ghee comes with a lab test report available on request.
How long does the ghee stay fresh?
Store the ghee in a cool, dry place in the jar it comes in. Keep the lid tight. It will stay fresh for up to 12 months without refrigeration. Refrigeration is not necessary but will not cause any harm.
Which size should I order, 450ml or 900ml?
For a family of 3 to 4 people who use ghee daily, 450ml usually lasts about 3 to 4 weeks. If you are a regular user or cooking for a larger family, the 900ml jar is better value. You can also try the combo pack with our Desi Buffalo Ghee if you want both.
Do you deliver across India?
Yes. We ship pan India. Orders placed before noon are usually dispatched the same day. Delivery in Jaipur takes 1 to 2 days. For other cities, delivery takes 3 to 5 business days depending on your location.
