Buy pure Desi Buffalo Ghee made fresh from the milk of indigenous desi buffaloes. We use the traditional Bilona method, hand-churning curd to get fresh white butter, then slow-cooking it on a low flame until it turns golden and fragrant.
Thick, creamy, and deeply aromatic. This is the kind of ghee that makes halwa taste like it used to and dal feel like a proper home-cooked meal.
What is Pure Desi Buffalo Ghee?
What is Pure Desi Buffalo Ghee?
Desi Buffalo Ghee is made from the milk of indigenous buffaloes raised on natural feed. It is one of the most traditional fats used in Indian cooking and has been a part of Indian kitchens for hundreds of years.
Buffalo ghee is thicker and richer than cow ghee. It has a higher fat content, a stronger aroma, and a slightly off-white to pale cream colour when pure. In Indian cooking, especially in sweets and festive dishes, buffalo ghee is often the first choice because of its deep, full-bodied flavour.
At A2 Farm, we make our buffalo ghee using the Bilona method, starting from curd and not from cream. This makes a real difference to the taste, texture, and nutrition of the final product.
How We Make Our Bilona Buffalo Ghee
How We Make Our Bilona Buffalo Ghee
Most buffalo ghee sold in stores is made by separating cream from milk and then heating it. Our process is different and takes much longer.
1. Fresh buffalo milk is collected from our own desi buffaloes every morning.
2. The milk is boiled, cooled, and set into curd using a natural starter culture.
3. The curd is hand-churned using a traditional wooden Bilona, moving in both directions to separate fresh white butter from the buttermilk.
4. The butter is collected carefully by hand.
5. It is slow-cooked on a low flame until all the water evaporates and the ghee turns a clear, pale golden colour with a deep, rich aroma.
6. The ghee is filtered and packed fresh into glass jars, ready to be delivered to your home.
Starting from curd instead of cream means the ghee retains more of the milk's natural nutrition. The slow cooking on a low flame makes sure nothing is lost in a rush.
Why Desi Buffalo Ghee is Good for You
Why Desi Buffalo Ghee is Good for You
- Rich in natural fats: Buffalo ghee has a higher fat content than cow ghee, which gives it more energy per spoon. These are natural fats that the body uses well.
- Good for bones and joints: Buffalo ghee is a natural source of calcium and vitamins A, D, E, and K, which support bone strength and joint health over time.
- Supports digestion: Like all ghee made by the Bilona method, buffalo ghee contains butyric acid that helps keep the gut lining healthy and digestion smooth.
- Boosts immunity: The fat-soluble vitamins in buffalo ghee support the immune system when consumed regularly in small amounts.
- High smoke point: Buffalo ghee is stable at high temperatures, making it safe for frying, deep frying, and tempering without producing harmful compounds.
- Long shelf life: Because buffalo milk has less moisture than cow milk, buffalo ghee naturally lasts longer without going rancid.
- Good for skin: Applied externally, buffalo ghee has been used in Indian households for centuries to soften dry skin and cracked heels.

I recently tried A2 Farm's ghee and it’s a game-changer in my kitchen. Sourced straight from village farm-raised cows, it brings a rich, authentic flavor to every dish. I appreciate the clear commitment to quality—it's honest, simple, and truly the real deal.
This ghee is really good. It tastes great, smells nice, and makes food taste better. Very pure and healthy.

Why Desi Buffalo Ghee is Good for Your Health
- Buffalo ghee is one of the richest natural sources of fat-soluble vitamins available in an everyday food.
- The butyric acid in Bilona buffalo ghee feeds the good bacteria in your gut and helps reduce inflammation over time.
- Regular use in small amounts supports joint health, especially for people who sit at a desk all day or have knee pain.
- The calcium in buffalo milk carries through to the ghee, making it useful for bone strength in children and older adults.
- Unlike refined oils, buffalo ghee does not break down into harmful compounds when heated to high temperatures.
- It does not contain trans fats. The fats in pure desi buffalo ghee are natural and the body processes them differently from processed oils.

FAQs
What is the colour of pure buffalo ghee?
Pure Desi Buffalo Ghee is off-white to pale cream in colour. This is normal and expected. Cow ghee is deeper golden yellow because of beta-carotene in cow milk. If your buffalo ghee looks very yellow, it may have been mixed with cow ghee or contain artificial colour.
Is buffalo ghee better than cow ghee?
Neither is better in every way. Buffalo ghee has more fat, a stronger flavour, and works best in sweets and heavy cooking. Cow ghee is lighter, easier to digest, and better for daily use in dal, khichdi, and baby food. Many households keep both. Our combo pack gives you both together.
How do I check if buffalo ghee is pure?
Three simple checks. First, the colour should be off-white to pale cream, not bright yellow. Second, when cooled, it will be very firm and solid, more so than cow ghee. Third, when you heat it in a pan, it should melt cleanly and smell rich and natural, not chemical or artificial. We provide lab test reports on request.
Is buffalo ghee good for weight loss?
Buffalo ghee is higher in fat than cow ghee, so it gives more calories per spoon. However, the fats in pure desi ghee are natural and the body processes them differently from refined oils. A small amount of ghee in a balanced diet is not something most nutritionists consider harmful. Replacing refined oil with pure ghee is often a better choice for overall health.
How long does Desi Buffalo Ghee stay fresh?
Stored in the original glass jar with the lid closed, at room temperature away from direct sunlight, it stays fresh for up to 12 months. Buffalo ghee has less moisture than cow ghee, which means it naturally has a longer shelf life. Refrigeration is not needed.
Can I use buffalo ghee for baby massage?
Buffalo ghee has traditionally been used for infant massage in Indian households. However, every baby is different and we recommend checking with your paediatrician before using any ghee on a newborn's skin. For babies above 6 months, a small amount of ghee in food is generally considered safe and nutritious.
